Cedric Peebles

–

Union Springs, Alabama

Cedric Lamont Peebles, affectionately known as “Say Say,” was born on August 17, 1989, to Kimberly Ellis and the late Charles Fulpher. A beloved son, father, fiancé, brother, and friend, Cedric brought warmth, laughter, and love into the lives of those who knew him. His life was woven into the heart of Union Springs and surrounding areas, where his fun-loving spirit, generosity, and loyalty earned him a special place in the hearts of many.

At an early age, Cedric accepted Christ and joined Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.

Cedric was a proud 2008 graduate of Bullock County High School, where he helped make school history as a member of the 2008 Class 4A State Championship basketball team. Wearing jersey number 42, he distinguished himself on the court and was named the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 4A Boys’ State Championship Most Valuable Player. He was also selected to the 2008 Class 4A All-State basketball team. These accomplishments became a treasured part of his story and a source of pride for his family, school, and community.

Cedric furthered his education at THEE Alabama State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, adding another meaningful achievement to his life’s story.

Those who knew Say Say will remember the person behind the jersey: a man with a giving heart, a playful personality, and a smile that could light up a room. He loved life and loved people. His silly humor and infectious laughter made him the life of the party, while his warmth made others feel welcome in his presence. He shared his love freely throughout Union Springs and surrounding areas, and the friendships he formed reflected the loyalty for which he was known.

His story also lives on through his seven children, each of whom holds a lasting place in his legacy. As his family remembers him, they cherish the laughter, love, and everyday moments that made him their own. To his community, he was Say Say. To those closest to him, he was a son, a father, a partner, a brother, and a friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

Cedric was preceded in death by his father, Charles Fulpher; his stepfather, Elbert Ellis; his sister, Gigretta Moore; his brother, Devonte Givens; his grandmothers, Shirley E. Coleman and Mary Guice; his uncle, Cephus Murry Jr.; and his best friend, Bryant Moore.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted mother, Kimberly Ellis; his four sons, Jay’Den Scott-Peebles, Cedric Peebles, Drake Peebles, and D’Cardi Stanley; his three daughters, Caitlyn Peebles, Zealia Jones, and Cailee Peebles; his two godchildren, Jamarrion Moore and Brooke Boyd; and his faithful and loving fiancée, Shayle Pew.

He is also lovingly remembered by his six sisters, Ka’Sheik Lambert, Quintana “Chanel” Moore, Quinteria (Dramell) Mack, Candace (Everitt) Washington, Adrianna Mack, and Shantavious (Martez) Bronson; and his eight brothers, Antjuan (Marikey) Peebles, Che’Rod Peebles, Jermaine Moore, Courtney Mack, Justin Mack, Curtis Washington, Bradley Mack, and JaDarrion Mack.

His memory will be treasured by his grandfather, Johnny Coleman; his bonus dad, Anthony Lambert; his three uncles, Don (Stephanie) Murry, Ronald Tarver, and Jeffery Murry; and his seven aunts, Angela (Kenneth) Stewart, Celeste Sellers, Beverly West, Valeria (James) Statley, Katira Guice, Wanda Thomas, and Trina Towns.

He also leaves seven great-aunts, Annie Dotson, Annie Walker, Patricia (Bobby) Lockely, Estella (Ben) Ross, Catherine (Clifford) Murry, Patty (Micheal) Young, and Martha (Rolan) Phillips; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; and his bonus mother, Pamelin Robinson.

Cedric’s life will be remembered through the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the lives he touched. The pride of number 42 will remain part of his legacy, and the warmth of Say Say will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

“The game may end, but the legacy of a legend lives forever.”

“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4
